Some might say these are just the ramblings of an idiot with a passport. I think I agree but in the short time I spent in SA I got a sense of how the country has improved/stagnated/grown/weakened in the past two years. It's *really* hard to get a sense of a whole country from a 5 star hotel but I ask people and tell you what they tell me.
Joburg has moved on in two years but its still not safe for a white fella to walk about downtown. Sandton is okay now and the CCTV downtown is having a dramatic effect.
